Ep 133: Wikipedia Rabbit Hole pt. 2

SARAH: Hey, what's up? Hello. Welcome to Sounds Fake But Okay, a podcast where an aro-ace girl I'm Sarah that's me.

KAYLA: And a demi-straight girl that's me, Kayla.

SARAH: Talk about all things to do with love, relationships, sexuality, and pretty much anything else we just don't understand.

KAYLA: On today's episode, Wikipedia part two.

BOTH: Sounds Fake But Okay.

[Intro Music]

SARAH: Welcome back to the pod.

KAYLA: Oh shit. M’adrid? Question mark?

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: That's… yeah.

SARAH: Yeah.

KAYLA: Yep.

SARAH: So, that's a place.

KAYLA: Yep.

SARAH: Congratulations.

KAYLA: Thank you.

SARAH: Uh, okay. Uh, Kayla, what are we talking about this week?

KAYLA: This week, I don't know if anyone liked the first version that we did of this, but, um, too bad. We're back doing another Wikipedia deep dive. But Sarah, what are we…

SARAH: And why is that, Kayla?

KAYLA: Yes, Sarah, what are we deep diving for this time?

SARAH: Now before we tried to get back to the asexuality, uh, Wikipedia page, we would start on a random page and then see how… see how quickly we could get back to the asexuality page. But guess what? Guess who now has a Wikipedia page?

KAYLA: Who?

SARAH: It's us.

KAYLA: It's us.

SARAH: So now we're going to do it again, but we're going to try and get back to the sounds fake but okay Wikipedia page. It's just a bit of self-promoting fun.

KAYLA: It's just a bit of vanity… It's just a bit of celebrating that… how did we get on Wikipedia? It's me. I did it. I wrote our own Wikipedia page.

SARAH: Kayla did it.

KAYLA: And I didn't know if I wanted to say that because you're not supposed to do that, but also the person… here's how it works. You have to… you write a Wikipedia page and you have to like cite all the information, right? You can't just like write things and they're there. It's actually a very wild process. And I wanted to do everything right because there's been drama before with asexuality things being on Wikipedia and Wikipedia people getting angry. There was the whole like Pauley Perrette thing. I didn't want drama. So, I tried to do it all very nice and good and then this person was helping me edit it and I was like wow this person got on this very fast. They said it could take up to six weeks, but they helped me the next day. Um, and it's someone who I think apparently knows who we are because they found us on Twitter and exposed me to everyone. And um, anyway, I wrote a Wikipedia page.

SARAH: But they said you did a good job. And you did.

KAYLA: They said very nice things. So, I think they're my new dad and my new boss.

SARAH: You did a good job at creating your own Wikipedia page.

KAYLA: Thank you. So yeah, if anyone else wants to hire me to write a Wikipedia page, I'm starting a side business.

SARAH: What if I don't have any money?

KAYLA: Um, you can pay me in... Yes.

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: Yep.

SARAH: All right. Uh, do we have any announcements this week? Do we have anything to say?

KAYLA: Yes. I am... it hasn't happened yet. Well, it has... part of it has happened yet. We hit our Patreon goal of $300 per month.

SARAH: Sure did.

KAYLA: And if you remember from many moons ago, the goal set for when we hit that was we would buy a square foot of Ireland and make that our capital. I...

SARAH: Asexual capital. The Aspec capital.

KAYLA: Yes.

SARAH: Of the world.

KAYLA: And the Irish Asexuality Twitter said it was fine. They said it was okay that we did it.

SARAH: They condoned it.

KAYLA: And that we're going to do it. They said it was allowed. And so did AVEN. So, I haven't bought it yet, but by the time this comes out, hopefully I will have, actually. It'll be on Twitter and Instagram. I don't know. We're going to buy a square foot of Ireland. Then we should probably use our money to transcribe our episodes. I don't know, something real. But anyway.

SARAH: Yeah.

KAYLA: Stay tuned for our next Patreon goal. But thank you to everyone who gives us their money. Because other than helping us buy Ireland, it helps me and Sarah stay alive. Because times are sad right now.

SARAH: Yeah. And I mean, we're going to name you later. But thanks for new patrons for helping us get to that goal. Hope you're enjoying this shit show of a video where we're not going to cut out me coughing.

KAYLA: True. Yeah, true. If you want to see…

SARAH: If you listen to the pod, the coughing won't be there.

KAYLA: If you become a patron at any point, this video is just going to be there. But Sarah and I are recording this on video so you can see us scrolling through Wikipedia and see our dumb faces.

SARAH: And we're also not editing it at all so you can hear all of the coughs and the everything. My voice keeps doing weird things. I think it's because I had some milk earlier and my… like, you know how like that makes your throat sometimes?

KAYLA: I do love that for you.

SARAH: So.

KAYLA: So um, yeah, if you want to become a patron, any amount of money will give you access to this. Good, good stuff.

SARAH: True.

KAYLA: Anyway, this has just been an episode where we're promoting ourselves. Thank you, goodbye.

SARAH: Alright, cool. Do we want to dive in?

KAYLA: Let's dive. Should we do it randomly or do you have a page that you'd like to start from?

SARAH: Well, I would like to start on the Justin Bieber page because…

KAYLA: Sarah, why is that?

SARAH: I saw a… a like, story on Snapchat that was like, Justin Bieber doesn't understand sex.

KAYLA: Oh, he was like, it's confusing.

SARAH: Yeah, he was like, Justin Bieber says sex is confusing and I was like, that's relatable, JB.

KAYLA: That's fair.

SARAH: So, let's start with JB.

KAYLA: Here's Justin Bieber. Let's see. Drew.

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: What a terrible middle name.

SARAH: Oh, it's just Justin Drew. That's weird.

KAYLA: That's bad.

SARAH: Like not even Andrew, it's just Drew.

KAYLA: Most powerful celebrities is a link.

SARAH: He was born in London, Ontario. That's not far from Michigan.

KAYLA: No, I mean he's just Canadian.

SARAH: Like I knew he was Canadian, I didn't realize he was from… I didn't realize he was from…

KAYLA: Maybe relationships will get us something?

SARAH: Uh, sexual abstinence.

KAYLA: Where?

SARAH: I just saw the word sexual… it's under beliefs.

KAYLA: That should be… that should get us. Because also the good thing is we are probably going to find our podcast most… oh my god.

SARAH: Oh my god.

KAYLA: Okay, so Justin Bieber to sexual abstinence, which was under his beliefs. I didn't read the sentence, I don't know what that means.

SARAH: I didn't either.

KAYLA: Um, wow, asexuality is distinct from sexual abstinence. Wow.

SARAH: Asexuality is in the second sentence of the sexual abstinence…

KAYLA: But also, they said it right. Asexuality is distinct from sexual abstinence, wow. Okay, so you clicked asexuality. I do already know that you can get to us from here because I did test it. If you go to see also in the very bottom, you find the timeline of asexual history. If you go to the 2010s, you find the podcast Sounds Fake But Okay. Um, and you click on that and…

SARAH: That's us.

KAYLA: Bitch. Wow, how many was that?

SARAH: There we are.

KAYLA: That was really easy.

SARAH: That was way easier than getting to anything that we did, like what, Justin Bieber, to abstinence, to asexuality, to timeline, to us five.

SARAH: That's so very…

KAYLA: I don't know that we will ever beat that. Okay, I do have one I want to try.

SARAH: I think it's going to be like, however many it takes to get to asexuality plus two, I think it's just going to be every situation because to get to us from asexuality is two.

KAYLA: Yeah, I mean I think there are other ways you could get to us, but that's going to be the most direct.

SARAH: Yeah.

KAYLA: I want to try Mason Ramsey because…

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: Recently I told Dean that I would like our wedding song to be by Mason Ramsey, the Walmart boy when we get married one day, and he said no, but then I told him that we both had Wikipedia pages, me and Mason Ramsey, and so that was a good… I mean it was a good enough reason that Dean didn't know what to say in argument, so.

SARAH: Yeah, and then Kayla texted me about it in an extremely confusing way.

KAYLA: Yeah, it wasn't my best, but like…

SARAH: I thought she was saying that at…

KAYLA: Oh, this is a very short page...

SARAH: Her and Dean’s wedding, me and Kayla were going to dance to this song because we both have one single…

KAYLA: Listen, I don't know...

SARAH: Wikipedia page, and I was like, what does that have to do with Mason Ramsey?

KAYLA: Alright, there's a few ways I think we could get here, that we could try.

SARAH: Like canceling Ellen DeGeneres?

KAYLA: So yeah, Ellen DeGeneres show is there, which will definitely link us to Ellen, which will probably get us to gay, which could get us to LGBT, which hopefully would get us to asexuality.

SARAH: Better way to get to gay is via Lil Nas.

KAYLA: That's very true, let's go to Lil Nas. TikTok? Did you ever make that TikTok?

SARAH: No, because my face looks bad.

KAYLA: Oh, okay. Alright, so now we're on Lil Nas. Okay, openly LGBTQ artist. No? Well, maybe.

SARAH: Okay, there's got to be a better way.

KAYLA: Yes, probably. What? There has got to be something just about him being gay.

SARAH: Personal life.

KAYLA: Gay.

SARAH: Personal life.

KAYLA: Let’s just search gay.

SARAH: Just search the word gay.

KAYLA: Came out as… wow, okay, they linked to gay. Oh, should I have done that?

[00:10:00]

SARAH: Oh, and then we can go...

KAYLA: Oh, okay, on the side they have a bunch of... Oh my god, yeah, on the side, it's because gay is part of a series of LGBT topics, and they have asexuality in here, which is very good to see. Do they have it in history?

SARAH: Love that.

KAYLA: No. Asexuality?

SARAH: I wonder...

KAYLA: Let’s scroll

SARAH: And then you can get, yeah.

KAYLA: You know what the realty is? I don't think AVEN has a Wikipedia.

SARAH: Get AVEN a Wiki.

KAYLA: How many was that?

SARAH: I don't know how to count. Are you kidding?

KAYLA: Mason to Lil Nas to gay to asexuality to his... that was only six.

SARAH: That's pretty good.

KAYLA: Wow, we're really doing it. Okay, should we go random?

SARAH: Let's randomize because that's when it starts getting real tricky.

KAYLA: Yeah. Oh, God. This is a three-sentence article, dear God.

SARAH: Volovsky District.

KAYLA: No, I think...

SARAH: Tula Oblast.

KAYLA: I think we could do this. Okay, so this is a...

SARAH: It is an administrative and municipal district in Russia.

KAYLA: Here's... Okay, I don't know if this would be on Russia's Wikipedia page, but Russia does have some pretty harsh rules against gay people.

SARAH: That's true. I like how it gave us one that's literally three sentences.

KAYLA: It's literally just... It's a district.

SARAH: There are more references than there are sentences.

KAYLA: There really are a lot of references.

SARAH: There are so many sources.

KAYLA: And it's just a sentence about this is what it is, this is how big it is, and this is the population. Let's go to Russia. Okay, so that's our second. Now this is much longer. Shall I search gay? Is that cheating?

SARAH: Sure.

KAYLA: There's no gay. How about homosexual? No, shit.

SARAH: Homosexual

KAYLA: Queer?

SARAH: Women with children.

KAYLA: LGBT. Oh, okay, we can get to LGBT. Let's see. What section? This is in this foreign relations section?

SARAH: Yeah.

KAYLA: Because it's saying that this is the West's criticism of Russia and human rights management, including LGBT. Click three. Can we just get right to asexuality? No. Oh, now we're on LGBT rights in Russia. Shit.

SARAH: Oh, specifically. Okay.

KAYLA: Okay

SARAH: We're going to have to get to a more broadly queer.

KAYLA: Give me gay? Can I just get the gay page?

SARAH: We want the gay page.

KAYLA: Can I just…

SARAH: We don't want a wave of torture and killings of gay men in Chechnya.

KAYLA: I certainly don't want that. Can I just get to gay?

SARAH: Sexual orientation. I just saw the word sexual orientation that were clickable.

KAYLA: Sexual… Okay.

SARAH: They're click…

KAYLA: What is that, four?

SARAH: Sure.

KAYLA: It is so interesting.

SARAH: Asexuality.

KAYLA: Let's read this sentence.

SARAH: There she is.

KAYLA: These attractions are generally subsumed under heterosexuality, homosexuality, and bisexuality. While asexuality, the lack of sexual attraction to others, is sometimes identified as the fourth category. What are the references on that? We got someone's fancy science paper and the journal of sex research. I don't know about that.

SARAH: Sometimes.

KAYLA: All of the time. All right. So, what was this on our click?

SARAH: Anyway, we've been distracted by poor phrasing…

KAYLA: Volovsky, Russia, gays in Russia, sexual orientation. So, this will be five. And then we'll go to history. We'll be six. So, seven. Wow, we're doing really well today.

SARAH: We are.

KAYLA: It was way harder last time we did it.

SARAH: It was. I think we've got, just like having experience having done it though, like we can figure out how to get…

KAYLA: That's true, we know what to click on.

SARAH: If you can get to gay, you can get to… You can get where we need to get. It's really about getting to gay.

KAYLA: I mean there is, yes, there is quite a… Well, yeah, now that we're… Now that we know…

SARAH: We could add more difficulty and not let us go to gay.

KAYLA: I mean, maybe we should.

SARAH: Udi Davidi is an Israeli singer, musician, lyricist, and composer.

KAYLA: Okay.

SARAH: Okay

KAYLA: Let's see. Oh God, these do not look promising. Oh, it's so short. All right, clickable links.

SARAH: We might have to go through Knesset.

KAYLA: What about Hebrew? What's Knesset? What do you want to go through?

SARAH: Knesset is like the… It's under Music Career towards the bottom. The audience included soldiers and their families as well. Several… It's the, it's the like legislature in Israel.

KAYLA: Yeah, that might be the most promising. Okay. Knesset.

SARAH: Okay, Knesset.

KAYLA: Two. Uh, okay. So now we're on this national legislature of Israel. Hmm.

SARAH: I'm not sure we'll be able to get straight to queer issues from here.

KAYLA: No, this is certainly going to take a bit.

SARAH: You might be able to go straight to Benjamin Netanyahu, which I just saw.

KAYLA: Who the fuck is that?

SARAH: He's the current, uh, prime minister. You're only for the next year and a half, then it'll be Benny Gantz because they did… Anyway, I know too much about the political situation.

KAYLA: You really do know a lot. Let's go to Benjamin…

SARAH: Remember that one time when you were like, can you please explain the Israeli-Palestine conflict to me?

KAYLA: You did a good job. You really did explain the whole thing very well. And also, we have just very similar views, so. Oh, this one? Okay, so now we're on Benjamin Netanyahu.

SARAH: Yeah, because he has some thoughts on the gays.

KAYLA: Well, are we not allowing ourselves to use gay anymore?

SARAH: Well, we hadn't made that rule yet.

KAYLA: Okay, next time. Let's just search gay.

SARAH: Wait, he graduated from MIT?

KAYLA: Oh, there is no link to gay. Queer? LGBT.

SARAH: LGBT might be a better word.

KAYLA: LGBT rights.

SARAH: LGBT rights

KAYLA: But is it linked? No!

SARAH: What's this one…

KAYLA: Same-sex marriage. We can get to that.

SARAH: We can get to that.

KAYLA: I forget. I lost count. I stopped counting. Ugh, recognition of same-sex unions in Israel is what we got to. Okay. What if we start an animal crossing next time?

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: Uh, Supreme Court?

SARAH: Tel Aviv Pride.

KAYLA: Where?

SARAH: Under legislation, very last line.

KAYLA: Let me search. Pride.

SARAH: It’s literally right there.

KAYLA: Prude. I wrote prude.

SARAH: Prude?

KAYLA: Uh-huh. Okay, Tel Aviv Pride Parade. I simply have lost count. Gay Pride Month. Okay, interesting.

SARAH: There may be, there might be, uh...

KAYLA: LGBT. That might… wait, what does that take us to?

SARAH: That takes us to the LGBT page. I think that's our best bet.

KAYLA: LGBT?

SARAH: It doesn't look like a long enough page to be like, hey, asexuality was or was not included here.

KAYLA: Is LGBT… or no, asexuality's on the side. Is it actually in the article though?

SARAH: Do we, do we want to, um, ban using the side?

KAYLA: We might.

SARAH: Because when it says like part of a series on LGBT topics, like it's all just right there. We could make it harder by making us, making ourselves look for it.

KAYLA: Here's the thing also about us using the asexuality page to get to us, is you have to scroll to the bottom and it's in the see also to get to the timeline. Is that cheating?

SARAH: I don't know. I don't know how else you would get to us though.

KAYLA: You could get to us through the category page 2017 podcast debuts, but to get to that you would have to get to one of the other podcasts that's part of that category and then scroll to the bottom and look at what categories it's in.

SARAH: So, what we need to do is we need to get to Pod Save America.

KAYLA: Yeah, Pod Save America, I think Astown was on there. There's a lot of good podcasts that came out in 2017, I found out recently. Anyway…

SARAH: I mean it's all us, obviously.

KAYLA: It's all… it's only us. Okay, is asexuality actually in this article?

SARAH: Okay, well on the next one we can add more challenges. Let's get to it from here.

KAYLA: Okay, well we'll just use the side then. Okay, we got there.

SARAH: Asexual erasure. I just saw the words asexual erasure.

KAYLA: It's actually on the asexual page.

SARAH: No, AVEN does have a page, it's right there.

KAYLA: Are you sure? Where?

SARAH: It literally was just highlighted as an option and you just passed it.

KAYLA: Oh, it's bolded, it can't click on it. Well, they don't have one, it's just bolded.

SARAH: No, further up, further up, very beginning.

KAYLA: This is the first time it's...

SARAH: No, very beginning. It's not written as AVEN, it's written as asexual visibility. Like it's written out.

KAYLA: No, it just links down here. Dumb, someone get them a Wikipedia page. David Jay has one.

SARAH: Yeah. It’s okay

KAYLA: Anyway, Animal Crossing. Now, what are our rules?

SARAH: Okay, I think we should have to get to ourselves via the 2017 podcast one.

KAYLA: Really?

SARAH: I think that's a greater challenge.

KAYLA: Can we… are we allowed to look at what else is on that so we know which podcast we're gunning for?

SARAH: I suppose.

KAYLA: Okay. Let me look at that because I don't remember.

SARAH: Okay. Podcast. Kayla can’t type

KAYLA: Shut up, I'm trying to type. Is this going to make any sense for people who aren't watching it?

SARAH: I think we're explaining… oh Love It or Leave It was also 2017.

KAYLA: Okay, so we're looking for podcasts…

SARAH: Oh, Podcast of America, Podcast People and Podcast of the World.

KAYLA: Okay, there are a lot of good… okay, so podcasts that I know, I've heard of that and That's Why We Drink. Dirty John is good, Ear Hustle I know.

[00:20:00]

SARAH: I know all the Crooked ones but there's also The Daily.

KAYLA: Mm, S-Town, Sounds Fake But Okay.

SARAH: Okay

KAYLA: The Fall Line I've heard of. A lot of these are… I know some of these that are true crime podcasts, so if we can get to true crime podcasts. Missing Richard Simmons, that came out then? Oh, Missing Richard Simmons is…

SARAH: Oh, okay, well, all right.

KAYLA: Ooh, Nintendo Power.

SARAH: All right, all right, let's back up.

KAYLA: It's a video game news and strategy podcast for Nintendo of America. Ooh. Is that going to be…

SARAH: Well, we're back to the Animal Crossing.

KAYLA: Well, I know, but Animal Crossing is Nintendo, so is that going to help us?

SARAH: Uh. I don't know. Yeah, I think this will be… this will be better because we… because we did it already with the other one.

KAYLA: Yeah.

SARAH: This is going to…

KAYLA: We're too good.

SARAH: Force us to exercise our brain muscles a little bit more.

KAYLA: Yes. Okay. We're on Animal Crossing.

SARAH: Okay, we're on Animal Crossing.

KAYLA: I already looked up podcasts and there's nothing.

SARAH: Oh, okay

KAYLA: So, okay, Memory cards. Nintendo Direct, Nintendo Switch, COVID-19.

SARAH: Oh, come…

KAYLA: We linked to COVID-19, but it doesn't link back to us.

SARAH: Yeah, there's a lot of things that like are related to COVID-19, but COVID-19 won't necessarily link to them.

KAYLA: Yeah, yes. Nintendo DS, COVID-19.

SARAH: COVID-19

KAYLA: Other media, maybe there's something in media.

SARAH: There were enough political podcasts… Oh, that goes to video game music. There were enough political podcasts on that 2017 podcast debut page that if we went to COVID-19, there's got to be a way to get there.

KAYLA: That's true. All right, let's go to COVID-19.

SARAH: But like one of the Crooked ones, The Daily.

KAYLA: Yeah.

SARAH: Like enough like news and politics that…

KAYLA: World Health Organization, we link to them, but they don't link to us. Wow, this is a big page. Okay, let's go to… is there a politics section?

SARAH: National responses.

KAYLA: Impact politics.

SARAH: Impact politics

KAYLA: United States. Universal health care. Child care. Oh, 2020 presidential election. Can that get us to Pod Save America?

SARAH: Yeah, it might take another jump or two.

KAYLA: Well, yeah, but okay, let's see.

SARAH: Oh, I'm wondering if we could get…

KAYLA: If we got to Obama, didn't that one guy do speeches for Obama?

SARAH: Yeah, I was going to say if we could get to Obama, I think…

KAYLA: Okay, well, we can get to Joe Biden.

SARAH: Through to Joe Biden.

KAYLA: Okay, go to Joe Biden. Get to… where's Obama? Give me Obama.

SARAH: President Barack Obama.

KAYLA: Okay, we get to Barack Obama.

SARAH: I am now a little bit concerned though that Obama would be on their pages, but he wouldn't necessarily…

KAYLA: Well, we can certainly get to something. Dang, this is long. Okay. What's the guy's name?

SARAH: Uh, there's a couple names.

KAYLA: Give them.

SARAH: Jon Favreau, J-O-N, there's no H. There's no H.

KAYLA: When there's not an H, nope.

SARAH: I said there's no H.

KAYLA: When there's no H. Okay, what else we got? My recording? Oh, thank God.

SARAH: The uh, Lovett, L-O-V-E-T-T.

KAYLA: Nope.

SARAH: Oh, uh, is the first marriage that was done in the White House illegally on this page?

KAYLA: That's how you spell marriage?

SARAH: Because, because John Lovett officiated that marriage.

KAYLA: Same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage, same-sex gay marriage…

SARAH: I know, but we’ll do it the hard way, we’re doing it the hard way

KAYLA: I know, I'm just saying, we could have, defensive marriage act. Um... Oberlin College professor received unsuccessful marriage proposal from Barack Obama in 1980s. I... what?

SARAH: Oh, they missed out.

KAYLA: Uh, yeah, I'm just seeing a bunch of stuff about same-sex marriage.

SARAH: I think we could do it by going through same-sex marriage.

KAYLA: But we're not allowed.

SARAH: No, I think we could get to the podcasts.

KAYLA: Okay.

SARAH: By same-sex marriage.

KAYLA: All right.

SARAH: This is going to be a long ass page.

KAYLA: Lovett? No. Podcast. No. Just checking.

SARAH: Just checking.

KAYLA: Okay. Constitution. Civil rights. Dang it! We really could have done it.

SARAH: See, this is... Yeah, it's... but it's supposed to be hard. Let’s go

KAYLA: I know. Um... Case law. Public opinion. History of same-sex marriage. Would that get it?

SARAH: It might. Okay.

KAYLA: Lovett. Dang it!

SARAH: I like how you just keep straight up hoping that Jon Lovett's going to be there.

KAYLA: Yeah, but you said he officiated the first one.

SARAH: He did, but it was done in secret.

KAYLA: But don't you think that should be on the history of same-sex marriage page? Should I go edit it right now?

SARAH: He officiated the first secret same-sex marriage in the White House.

KAYLA: I feel as though that should be on this page.

SARAH: Yeah.

KAYLA: I'm pissed. I'm going to edit this later. Probably not. I'll forget. Oh, because it only goes to 2015. Wait, when was it that he did that?

SARAH: It was before then.

KAYLA: Well then, heck.

SARAH: Because it was before it was federally legal.

KAYLA: A secret.

SARAH: They were being secret.

KAYLA: Yeah, nothing good coming up on searching the word secret. Dang, there's lots…

SARAH: Why did you think that was going to work?

KAYLA: I'm just checking. God, let a girl dream. Man, that should be in there. That's dumb as heck.

SARAH: I'm now trying to think.

KAYLA: Chris Christie. Constitutional amendment.

SARAH: If we can get…

KAYLA: Democratic National Convention?

SARAH: To Cuomo.

KAYLA: National Organization for Marriage. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Can we get anything crime related here? No.

SARAH: We could also get to it by going through Harvey Weinstein.

KAYLA: How?

SARAH: Because Ronan Farrow did reporting on Harvey Weinstein. Ronan Farrow is engaged to Jon Lovett. Jon Lovett had a podcast that was 2017.

KAYLA: Do you think that he would be on Harvey Weinstein's page though?

SARAH: Would… Ronan Farrow would be.

KAYLA: Okay, well how do we get to Harvey Weinstein?

SARAH: I don't know, I'm just thinking of alternate routes out.

KAYLA: I think alternate routes are finding things about crime.

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: Or I guess Harvey Wein- because we can get to the… because I think what's this one? The Fall Line is a podcast that's now on the Exactly Right Network, which is owned by the people that do My Favorite Murder, which is the biggest true crime podcast.

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: Often in ratings. So, we should be able to get there.

SARAH: Yeah

KAYLA: Okay, let's look for crime. Let's look for Harvey Weinstein, who is also a crime.

SARAH: I mean, it's not, it's not going to, we're not going to be able to get straight to Harvey Weinstein.

KAYLA: Obviously not. But that's not what I meant.

SARAH: I guess it'll just depend on whose knowledge we want to rely on, whether we want to rely on your knowledge of what's connected to what or mine.

KAYLA: Bill Clinton? He's a scoundrel.

SARAH: Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton might work.

KAYLA: All right, let’s find the old Bill.

SARAH: I mean, it would take multiple steps.

KAYLA: Everyone said he was hot, but look at him. Not.

SARAH: I think he was hot when he was younger.

KAYLA: Uh, I don’t know

SARAH: At least I think people say that. I'm not really… I don't really know what he looked like when he was younger.

KAYLA: Hillary Clinton. Perjury.

SARAH: Perjury.

KAYLA: Destruction of justice. Those are some crimes. 1996. Just the whole dang year. Oh, just kidding. It's the 1996 universe. University.   Never mind…

SARAH: Imagine if it just sent you… Okay, things are going well.

KAYLA: Let's see. And he's not hot.

SARAH: I don't know what to tell you.

KAYLA: Law school. Does that get us anywhere? Did any of those fancy people go to a law school?

SARAH: No.

KAYLA: Republican.

SARAH: Oh god.

KAYLA: Lethal injection.

SARAH: Michael Dukakis.

KAYLA: Ooh, electric chair. That could get us somewhere.

SARAH: If you think so.

KAYLA: I feel like it… I'm going to open it in new tab so we can come back to Bill Clinton if we get lost.

SARAH: I think that's cheating.

KAYLA: No. Death penalty in the United States. I'm telling you, we got… There's something…

SARAH: Ventricular fibrillation.

KAYLA: There's certainly something here. Death penalty in the United States.

SARAH: Okay.

[00:30:00]

KAYLA: Uh, death row. Ooh, I wonder if we can get from death row to Ear Hustle somehow. San Quint… Ooh, if we can get to San Quentin, we can get to Ear Hustle.

SARAH: Well, you can click on San Quentin. It's right there.

KAYLA: Where? Yes, okay. San Quentin, we should be able to get to Ear Hustle from here for sure. If not, that's a damn… Ear Hustle?

SARAH: Ear… Ear hustle.

KAYLA: Scroll to the bottom. 2017 podcast debuts! Mmmmmm. Bitch!

SARAH: We did it.

KAYLA: We did it! It only took like a thousand clicks. And like…

SARAH: Well, because… yeah. We took a very meandering route.

KAYLA: Well, it happens. It happens.

SARAH: Yeah. That was hard.

KAYLA: That was hard. Shall we do another?

SARAH: Yeah. Let's randomize her again.

KAYLA: Okay.

SARAH: Do we want to go again where we have to go through the 2017 Hold Back the River James Bay song? Okay.

KAYLA: Yeah, let's do it the hard way.

SARAH: Okay. This song does kind of slap.

KAYLA: YouTube. YouTube, I feel like, is a good way to get to podcasts.

SARAH: Yeah, let's do that.

KAYLA: YouTube? Let's just look up podcasts. No. Okay. Do any of these people…

SARAH: I'm trying to think of who might be listed on the YouTube page that is connected to the podcast, right?

KAYLA: Shane Dawson? No. He used to have a podcast. Who are big YouTubers that have podcasts? Phil…

SARAH: I don't know much about who is a big YouTuber these days.

KAYLA: Is Phil DeFranco? No. I don't think they list any YouTubers on this page, but if we could get to YouTuber…

SARAH: I don't think there was any specific YouTuber.

KAYLA: We can get to the YouTube… Ooh, Vlogbrother… Vlogbrothers… They have a podcast?

SARAH: Vlogbrothers. Yep.

KAYLA: Okay.

SARAH: Just type in Dear Hank and John.

KAYLA: Dear. Nope. But we can get to John or Hank Green or Green Brothers.

SARAH: Um. I’m trying to figure out if one of those would be more effective than the other. I'm not sure it would make much of a difference. Because they both have their own podcasts in addition to…

KAYLA: They did Lizzie Bennet Diaries?

SARAH: They're connected to it. They didn't do it, but they're…

KAYLA: Dear Hank and John.

SARAH: Dear Hank and John Podcast.

KAYLA: Podcast. Tsk tsk tsk tsk. Is it just political podcasts? Is there a better way? There's a lot of references from 2017. I think political podcasts would probably be the best.

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: Because I'm assuming the Pod Save America is going to be…

SARAH: Yeah, I'm sure.

KAYLA: Pod Save America. 2017. Wow, we're so good.

SARAH: Look at that.

KAYLA: We're so smart and good.

SARAH: Wow. Incredible. Look at us go.

KAYLA: I love it here. Random. Winter Solstice, the film.

SARAH: The film?

KAYLA: I don't know her.

SARAH: Okay. I don't either.

KAYLA: New Jersey Landscape Gardener. Do you know any of these actors?

SARAH: Allison Janney? I don't know how Allison Janney's going to get us to…

KAYLA: Cannes Film. New York Times. New York Times has a podcast?

SARAH: Yes, go through New York Times.

KAYLA: Podcast. Day of Sephirot. The Daily.

SARAH: The Daily

KAYLA: Should I just click on The Daily? Or just podcast?

SARAH: Yeah, because that's 2017. That's… no, but The Daily is 2017.

KAYLA: Wow, that was fast.

SARAH: Look at us go.

KAYLA: That's kind of cheating. I feel like New York Times is probably linked in a lot of things.

SARAH: Well, too bad

KAYLA: Not my fault.

SARAH: Too bad.

KAYLA: Do you have a certain Wikipedia page you'd like?

SARAH: Can we try and do it backwards so we go from our page to something else?

KAYLA: Ooh, what do you want to get to?

SARAH: I don't know.

KAYLA: Should we pick a random one to get to and then go backwards?

SARAH: Yeah, okay.

KAYLA: Okay.

SARAH: Yeah, I mean it can't be too obscure.

KAYLA: Let's do random. Random is the 1983 Eastern League Season. That feel obscure to you?

SARAH: I don't even know what this means.

KAYLA: It's uh...

SARAH: What sport is this?

KAYLA: Red Sox. Baseball?

SARAH: The New Britain Red Sox.

KAYLA: I feel like it's maybe baseball.

SARAH: It seems… yeah, it's baseball.

KAYLA: Should we do this? Or you want another one?

SARAH: I think we should do another one, it's too specific.

KAYLA: Oost…

SARAH: Ooh, this one has only two sentences.

KAYLA: Oost-Tilsma Airport, next. Oh my god.

SARAH: Oh my god, this… Can I read everyone… I'm going to read everyone this…

KAYLA: This entire article.

SARAH: It's uh, Veliki... Zen? Zen?

KAYLA: Zenchi?

SARAH: Um, it is a village in Croatia. It is connected by the D5 highway. That's… that's it.

KAYLA: I mean, these are some interesting links, village and Croatia.

SARAH: I know, but that doesn't mean that you'll be able to get there from...

KAYLA: Random.

SARAH: You know.

KAYLA: This is another season of a sport.

SARAH: Basil...

KAYLA: No. Laurinburg Institute.

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: African American Preparatory School in North Carolina. Okay.

SARAH: And it has a bunch of accomplished...

KAYLA: Alumni.

SARAH: Daisy Gillespie went there.

KAYLA: Okay, we can do this. This is fine. Do I just go to basketball? Uh, okay, we can go to this town in North Carolina.

SARAH: No, we're going back. We're going… no, that's not...

KAYLA: Oh no, we're going from ours to here.

SARAH: Yes. Yes.

KAYLA: Okay, so we're trying to get to this school. Okay. Look at that. You ever googled this? Okay.

SARAH: Okay

KAYLA: We got...

SARAH: So, we're going to this school. Where... This school is in South Carolina?

KAYLA: North Carolina.

SARAH: North Carolina?

KAYLA: Laurinburg, North Carolina.

SARAH: North Carolina.

KAYLA: It has a rich basketball tradition.

SARAH: Booker T. Washington.

KAYLA: And some famous alumni from basketball.

SARAH: We might be able to... we might be able to use U of M to get to UNC somehow.

KAYLA: Okay, so from our page you can get to University of Michigan. We got sports down here. Alumni.

SARAH: Alumni. I think there was a... Scroll up. There's something about the Association of American Universities.

KAYLA: Is the NCAA... Big Ten?

SARAH: I mean you could get to UNC from NCAA.

KAYLA: Okay, NCAA.

SARAH: Yeah, we're just going to have to find where it lists… Type out North Carolina.

KAYLA: Oh wait. Okay, Conference Carolinas?

SARAH: Is there not a way to go straight to UNC? I guess not.

KAYLA: It's just some things that say North Carolina but you can't even click on North Carolina.

SARAH: Yeah, I guess go to Conference Carolinas. That's not the greatest graphic.

KAYLA: Collegiate Athletic Conference. Yeah, that's pretty graphic.

SARAH: We could go to the state of North Carolina.

KAYLA: We could. Let's do that.

SARAH: Because if the Laurinburg Institute is in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Um…

KAYLA: Um, sports?

SARAH: Um, I wonder if it has like notable, if there's a list of like notable people from North Carolina. If any of them will match up with people who went to this one.

KAYLA: Let's see. Colleges and universities?

SARAH: I think this is a high school though, isn't it?

KAYLA: Prep school.

SARAH: Yeah, that's a high school.

KAYLA: I should know that.

SARAH: I think. Yeah, you should know.

KAYLA: Depends. Okay, but we can get to UNC from LGBTQ. We can go back. Um, wait, where am I?

SARAH: I don't know, where are you?

KAYLA: How did I get here? Come back.

SARAH: You're in NCAA.

KAYLA: I wanted to be North Carolina. You can get to UNC now.

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: We can get to all of these universities.

SARAH: I'm just trying to figure out the best way. I mean, is there, is there a part, what county is Laurinburg Institute in?

KAYLA: Let's see.

SARAH: Does it say on the page?

KAYLA: Well, it says, I have its coordinates. Oh yeah, it is 9 through 12.

[00:40:00]

SARAH: Yeah. So, Laurinburg, North Carolina. It's 125 McGirt's Bridge Road.

KAYLA: That's a terrible name.

SARAH: At first, I read that as McGritz.

KAYLA: McGritz?

SARAH: Um, I think if, if we can get it down to finding… see, I want to know what county it's in.

KAYLA: That seems like cheating.

SARAH: But that would involve extra Googling. Yeah, that's cheating.

KAYLA: If we can get to any of these NBA players, we could probably get there.

SARAH: There's a lot of NBA players that went to that school.

KAYLA: I don't know any of these people.

SARAH: We could get to Dizzy Gillespie. That's why I was like, is there a notable people list in North Carolina?

KAYLA: I'm not seeing one. It is a big state. Sports. We can gambly get to MLB?

SARAH: Yeah. No longer has an MLB team. Are there any names under sports? Or are we going to have to go through something else?

KAYLA: I don't see any names.

SARAH: Is it cheating if we hover over the names of people on the Laurinburg Institute page to see what team they played for?

KAYLA: I don't think that's cheating. Um okay this guy went to University of Memphis.

SARAH: Okay that's not in...

KAYLA: I know but that's what it's telling me. This guy played for…

SARAH: Puerto Rican National team.

KAYLA: Puerto Rican team. This man is named Spider and it doesn't tell me. That's not. This man played baseball for Chicago White Sox. Kansas City. Philadelphia Phillies.

SARAH: Phillies. Cubs. And Dodgers.

KAYLA: Dodgers. Is he good enough to be on their wikis though?

SARAH: I don't know. That's a lot of pages.

KAYLA: That is a lot of pages.

SARAH: Like that's a 10-year span and that's like five teams.

KAYLA: And you'd think that some Wikipedia pages would like… even if it wasn't on that team's wiki they might have a wiki just of all past players like a list page.

SARAH: Yeah.

KAYLA: Okay.

SARAH: Yeah.

KAYLA: Let's go to MLB and then we can get to these teams.

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: Where'd MLB go? Come back.

SARAH: The second paragraph.

KAYLA: Oh, okay. Teams? Teams. Okay, which one do you want to try?

SARAH: Let's… I'm trying to think of what… which of those teams are like not as good so that it's more likely that they'll have a random guy on their page. You know?

KAYLA: I don't know.

SARAH: Raves, White Sox, Kansas City, A's, Phillies, Cubs, Dodgers.

KAYLA: They're all pretty good teams.

SARAH: Yeah

KAYLA: Or at least ones that I know of because they're local.

SARAH: Yeah. Do we want to try Kansas City? I don't know actually… I don't actually know how good that team is but I just feel like I hear about it less often.

KAYLA: The A's really?

SARAH: I guess.

KAYLA: Let's try it. Oh, Kansas City Royals. Who's that?

SARAH: I don't know who that is.

KAYLA: Oh, there's the National League and American League. I forgot. Kansas City… where? Where are the A's? Oh no, it's the Oakland A's. Wait, what?

SARAH: Kansas City Athletics. Does it not exist anymore?

KAYLA: It must not because I think it's the Oakland A's.

SARAH: It might not exist anymore.

KAYLA: Oh yeah, Oakland Athletics. That's weird. Okay.

SARAH: There is a team that's just… okay, that's confusing.

KAYLA: Kansas City Royals. They must have renamed it or something. We're not sports people. I don't know. Let's go to White Sox.

SARAH: Okay.

KAYLA: White Sox. Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk, roster. This is current. Do you have anything old for me? Please.

SARAH: Do you have…

KAYLA: Anything old? Is he in the Hall of Fame? No

SARAH: I don't think so.

KAYLA: Can we just search if his name is here? What was his name? Wes Covington.

SARAH: Wes something, Wes Covington.

KAYLA: Shit. Okay, player? There's got to be a list in here somewhere of just all of their players, you'd think. Yes?

SARAH: Um, I mean, yeah, I feel like there's got to be a page somewhere that just is its own Wikipedia page of all the past players.

KAYLA: Links to related articles. Show. No. Categories, Chicago White Sox. If we go to that category, they might have a list.

SARAH: I don't know. Fuck it.

KAYLA: There's a list of lists. Um, why don't you just have a full list of who's been on your team? Like, that seems like a thing, I guess

SARAH: Chicago White Sox seasons, Chicago White Sox stadiums, Chicago White Sox personnel. That's not... I think personnel is people who work for the team, right? Not people on the team.

KAYLA: The heck?

SARAH: Oh god, this is so frustrating. I just want to get to our Wikipedia page. What's… I guess not to our Wikipedia page. We want to get to the Laurinburg Institute.

KAYLA: Chicago White Sox lists. Isn't that where we already are?

SARAH: What? List of…

KAYLA: First round draft picks. Do you think he was a first round draft pick?

SARAH: No.

KAYLA: All-time roster. All-time roster.

SARAH: All-time roster.

KAYLA: Wes. Give me Wes. Wes Covington. Okay, if he doesn't have anything about his school, I'll literally… Laurinburg, North Carolina. Okay, can we get straight to it?

SARAH: Can we go straight to the school?

KAYLA: No.

SARAH: No, just go to the… Go to the…

KAYLA: Okay, Laurinburg, North Carolina. Come on. Colleges. Even though you're not a college. Come on. Insta… Laurinburg Institute. It's in the first two sentences.

SARAH: There we go. There we go

KAYLA: We did it!

SARAH: For a while there, I thought we were not going to make it.

KAYLA: We did. We made it. Oh, I'm so proud of us.

SARAH: Oh man, do you think that that covers all that we really need? It has been proven that you can get to or from our Wikipedia page from basically anywhere.

KAYLA: Pretty much anywhere. I think we're… I think we've done it. I think we can delete the Wikipedia page now, honestly.

SARAH: I would disagree.

KAYLA: Get rid of it.

SARAH: But… okay, we'll have a business meeting about it.

KAYLA: Okay, let's have a business meeting. We had a business meeting before this, which was just me going to Sarah's Animal Crossing Island, and we'll have one after.

SARAH: Yeah. Okay. Wonderful. All right, well Kayla, what's our poll for this week?

KAYLA: Oh my. Should we have people try to play this and tell us what page they got to us from and how many clicks?

SARAH: Sure. Yeah. How many clicks? Yeah, sure.

KAYLA: It's probably what we did on this poll last time, but it's fine.

SARAH: Who cares? Or like if they are able to get to our page through a different method other than through asexuality or through 2017 podcasts.

KAYLA: Yes.

SARAH: All right, wonderful. Kayla, what's your beef and your juice this week?

KAYLA: My juice is our Discord, which is currently giving me a lot of notifications because the children like to talk

SARAH: Good

KAYLA: Um but yeah, I don't know everyone has been very cute and nice and semi-related, but if anyone is taking AP tests right now, a lot of people in there have been complaining about AP tests, which is probably ass because they've been bad. I know this from work, but…

SARAH: I believe by the time this is out, the AP test will be over.

KAYLA: No, because there was technical difficulties and some people have to do retakes in two weeks. It's really ass.

SARAH: Oh my God, surprised

KAYLA: It's really bad. So good luck to all of you, but also yeah, I don't know everyone in the Discord has just been very cute and nice recently.

SARAH: Do you have any beef?

KAYLA: My beef is that I've developed a nice good caffeine addiction and so I feel like garbage if I don't drink a Coke and that's not good, so.

SARAH: Good.

KAYLA: Yes

SARAH: Excellent. My beef is the American healthcare system.

KAYLA: Oh boy, getting it, okay.

SARAH: As a follow-up, my beef is that I do not have a neurotypical brain because it would simply be easier if I did. I would not have to deal with the American healthcare system as much. Anyway, it's mental health awareness month, so be aware. My juice is dogs. Like what would humanity be without dogs?

KAYLA: That's fair.

SARAH: My other juice is buying books from your local independent bookseller or in my case buying books from your favorite indie bookstore despite it being no longer local as it is now thousands of miles away from you, but it doesn't matter because they ship anywhere in the United States. Literatibookstore.com go right on their typewriter anyway.

KAYLA: Well, don't right now probably, but one day.

SARAH: No, they have an online typewriter.

KAYLA: Oh

SARAH: You can't… it basically works like the typewriter that they have in the store. Okay, basically, Literati is a bookstore in Ann Arbor…

KAYLA: It’s very good

SARAH: Where they have a typewriter at the store and anyone can just type stuff on it. And every once in a while, they go through the stuff that people have typed and they look for like interesting ones.

KAYLA: And they published a book or two with it.

SARAH: They published a book. They also just put them on the wall of like…

KAYLA: It's very cool.

SARAH: Interesting things people say. The book is called Notes from a Public Typewriter, I believe.

KAYLA: Yeah, I think so. I tweeted the poll too soon!

SARAH: Oh no! People with tweet notifications just got such a sneak peek.

KAYLA: Shit

SARAH: But they… because they can't be open right now, they put a typewriter on their website and it works like a regular typewriter in that you can't backspace. So, if you make a typo, you make a typo.

KAYLA: I want to go do it

SARAH: And you can submit stuff and I think they've been posting good ones on social media or something. They're also considering them as submissions for their next typewriter book. It's cool.

KAYLA: Similar to that, there's this thing, it has been going on for a long time but I just found it on the internet. It's called… something postcard. Let me find it. It's called post secret and it's this guy where people just like send him postcards in the mail with like secrets on them and then he like puts them on his blog every week and like they're on social media. I think he has made books too. But if you just like look at the Instagram, it's very interesting because a lot of them are very like artsy and it's just very cool and you get to see people's secrets and sometimes, they're crazy. Anyway.

SARAH: All right, good to know. All right, you can tell us about your beef, your joos, your skills on Wikipedia, on our social media @SoundsFakePod everywhere. Sounds Fake But Okay
