Sounds Fake But Okay is a weekly podcast where an aromantic asexual girl and a demisexual straight girl talk about love, relationships, sexuality, & pretty much anything else they just don't understand.
Kayla and Sarah have been best friends since their freshman year at the University of Michigan. The summer after the freshman year, Sarah came out as asexual and aromantic. Sarah began asking Kayla questions about the world of dating and sex that she just didn't understand. Questions like how long is sex supposed to last and what the appeal of dick pics is to some people.
These conversations were usually very humorous and often insightful, and so the decision to try making a podcast about these topics was made. The girls now cover all kinds of topics from questioning your sexuality and asexual people’s place in the LGBTQIA+ community to topics of personal interest like fandom to giving listeners dubious advice.
Co-Host & Editor
After 18 years of assuming she was straight (thanks, society), Sarah realized she was aromantic asexual, and it's been a wild ride ever since. She's a senior at the University of Michigan studying Film and German. She loves superhero movies, Broadway musicals, and diverse representation in media both in front of and behind the camera (cough cough Hollywood).
Co-Host & Marketing Manager
Over the course of the first year of Sounds Fake But Okay, Kayla learned that she was not just straight, but demisexual. She is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan and has now moved to Connecticut for work. She loves long sits on the couch watching musicals and old lady activities such as embroidery.
