About Us

Sounds Fake But Okay is a weekly podcast where an aromantic asexual girl and a biromantic demisexual girl talk about love, relationships, sexuality, & pretty much anything else they just don't understand.

Kayla and Sarah have been best friends since their freshman year at the University of Michigan. The summer after the freshman year, Sarah came out as asexual and aromantic. Sarah began asking Kayla questions about the world of dating and sex that she just didn't understand. Questions like how long is sex supposed to last and what the appeal of dick pics is to some people.

These conversations were usually very humorous and often insightful, and so the decision to try making a podcast about these topics was made. The girls now cover all kinds of topics from questioning your sexuality and asexual people’s place in the LGBTQIA+ community to topics of personal interest like fandom to giving listeners dubious advice

Co-Host & Editor

After 18 years of assuming she was straight (thanks, society), Sarah realized she was aromantic asexual, and it's been a wild ride ever since. A proud Michigander who moved to Los Angeles in 2020 to pursue a career in TV writing, her interests include spending her life savings on K-pop, stalking Zillow for houses she can’t afford, and building a shrine to Cherry Coke in her home.

Over the course of the first year of Sounds Fake But Okay, Kayla learned that she was demisexual. And while writing the Sounds Fake But Okay book, she realized she was biromantic. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and now lives in Boston with her partner and friends. She loves long sits on the couch reading fantasy books and playing games on her phone.
